Racing QLD is the most Incompetent racing body in Australia,
I'll stick to racing dogs in other states in future ,
Only in QLD you get Group dogs in grade 5 races, when a 2 time Group race winner is allowed to run in a grade 5 race on a Monday night it's a Joke, Racing QLD is run by Clowns.

I don't think someone cleverly using the grading system to their advantage means Racing Queensland is a basket case or run by clowns.

Group winners should be automatically banned from competing in grade 5 races, In horse racing if your horse has won a group race it's ineligible from all class 1 & 2 races, Racing QLD should do the same with greyhound racing by not allowing group dogs in grade 5 races, my bitch has faced 2 group dogs (last night a 2 time group winner) in her past 4 starts I'm sick of it, her trainer had a dog in a short course race last night also faced group performers &
The grading system in QLD is a Joke , Paul How would you feel if you were in my shoes or other people who's dogs faced those group dogs last night ?

Isn't this rule the same in every state, so why would Queensland be any different?

"Keep your dogs in the worst company and yourself in the best". I was always told.

We've had dogs win Group races within a hand full of starts and before they raced in town. Taking their 5th grades away certainly wouldn't have been fair either.

It's not the same in every state as far as I know but even if it was It's very sad, Only freakish dogs win a Group race in a handful of starts which is only a rare few , why should Group dogs be allowed to break the hearts of young dogs they face in grade 5 races for what? an easy couple of Grand ,
It's damaging to some of those young dogs , it's not the trainers fault for exploiting the stupid grading rules in QLD, Racing QLD is at fault & only care about making up the numbers.

The bitch is over 5 years old and at the end of her career, I think the damage has been done already.

You are talking about a dog that has graduated from 500m to 600m racing

As far as I know in every State when a dog changes distance range it goes back to 5th grade

A lot of dogs aren't the same racing over 600m as they are over 500m, as there are dogs that can run 600m and can;t run 700m and so on, therefore its unfair to deny them 5th grades in a new distance range

Also, Group dogs can lose form as well, therefore, why should they be penalized for the rest of their life

What you are proposing is totally unfair

Your dog was 100/1 in that race and there were other 100/1 shots that she couldn't get past in that race, running last

Maybe you should do as Paul suggested and if your ego can stand it, take a reality check and move her to somewhere like Mt Gambier where she would be far more competitive or better off at her age, retired on a couch somewhere

Blaming Qld Racing is just wrong

I am sure if you owned Dulceria you would be very happy to take the money for the easy 5th grade wins on the way up to top grade over 600m

If you look closely at my previous comment I was referring to young grade 5 dogs facing Group dogs, older dogs like my bitch should be able to race if they still have the desire like my girl but she & other older dogs shouldn't be stuck racing Group dogs that are in their prime unlike my girl

Don't be so ignorant Branko

Where have I ever said or implied that I have something against older healthy dogs racing

My own dog raced competitively in SA at Gawler and Angle Park until 5 and a half years of age

Its not my fault or the connections of Dulceria, if you haven't got the brains to place your dog in a competitive environment

The connections of Dulceria have the right to race their dog wherever they want to and take advantage of anything the grading system provides her.

Seeing they own and train her why would they want to send her to Victoria, she has won $152k racing in Qld. And by the way, if you race in Victoria in 5th grade City events you will invariably find one or more Group class dog in the race with you. And even at times on Wednesdays and Sundays you will find top class dogs racing against genuine 5th graders

Yes it is your choice where you race your dog.

Being your choice also means that you should be prepared to own the consequences of your decision and not whinge about it when things don't go your way

So you don't want people to recommend where you race your dog, but you want to tell others what to do with theirs. Classic

Sandro there's no whinging from me & it's nothing to do with getting my way , I'm tired of my words being twisted , I only have a problem with the stupid grading system in QLD which is grossly inconsistent,
Group dogs have no business being in grade 5 races period , they should be in grade 2 , 3 or 4 when changing distances or out of form not grade 5 , everyone has a primary care of their dogs as their main concern not just the owner of Dulceria, when you've got a top Group dog it's worth sending them to Victoria to show Australia how good it is against the best not just against weaker dogs in their home state, I'm not the trainer of my bitch & it's out of my control where she is nominated, putting my bitch aside what about the young dogs fresh from winning a novice race in Qld that end up facing Group dogs in Grade 5 races how is that fair ? I'm sure you'd be spitting chips if your dog was to face a Group dog when having it's 1st or 2nd start in 5th Grade , I'm not alone in my criticism of Racing QLD as several QLD trainers have told me privately how much of a basket case the grading system is in QLD , they just don't want to go public like I have coz of fear of being punished with constant bad box draws etc I'll leave it at that.

Really, what do you think I am then? I am not exactly Hallinan or wheeler kennels

I just think you are completely wrong in your assessment of the situation regarding Racing Qld & the grading system there

If you think you are right, then that's your opinion and you have every right to believe whatever garbage justifies your opinion

Branko, you definitely have a point, regardless of distance. Group winning dogs should at least be graded 4th Grade going over another distance, especially close to the distance that they won their group race. 4th Grade is not unreasonable.

Years ago I was in a race where the Group winning bitch over 720m dropped back to a 5th Grade over 530m.. It sheet in. Well placed? Yes. Grading System right? No. Every other trainer was scratching their heads. Another change to grading system required.

Hi Mark ,
You get what I was saying , unfortunately I'm not surprised you went through the same thing, Group dogs & bitches can cope easily with Grade 4 when racing over another distance or same distance they won their Group race in if the Greyhound is out of form, all I want to see is even race fields but it's a taboo subject for some people unfortunately.

Cheers,
Branko

Does this scenario happen often, weekly monthly quarterly ?

Is there such a perfect grading system existing in other states ?

Dulceira connections are true blue battlers, its good to see them with a good racer

Branko I sympathise but this topic is a storm in a tea cup.
QR overall doing a good job IMO

Let's cut to the chase. You can't say Queensland racing is a "basket case" because, one ordinary, five year old, 100/1 shot bitch unfortunately met up with a Group class dog in a 5th grade. Typical dog bum whinging at it's worst.

So Group winners immediately Graded out of 5th Grade events - what about the Vimce Curry winner or does that not suit the narrative?
