Absolutely ridiculous ! If a Trainer doesn't think his Dog can win and he backs another Dog in his race that he thinks will win he is effectively betting against his Dog. What's next ???

1st place is a place. IMO, youre backing your dog to win or run a place for prize money.

The Purpose of the Grading Policy
The Greyhound Racing New South Wales Grading Policy:
(a) Creates a fair, equitable and transparent system where greyhounds with the most appropriate form secure starts and are grouped with greyhounds of similar ability; and
(b) Ensures the viability of the industry by promoting the highest standard of racing possible that maximises the racing career of greyhounds in New South Wales.
Grouping a greyhound that has won three races with one that has won 10-15 races is not of similar ability. It's not fair and equitable.
Unfortunately, programming is the cause of it. It forces trainers of dogs to nominate knowing they will be out-graded just to get a run. The alternative is to stay at home. However, the problem isn't new.
Programming should be creative with levels at least up to six wins e.g.s. 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, 2-4, 3-6 wins.
Recently, I saw some really good programming at Coonamble and Moree.

Don't forget to talk to the Ops Team about the Grading System. I'm still awaiting a response to my email that I sent about a month ago, from someone within GRNSW about programming of races for lower graders within 5th Grade.

I've been saying this since it was introduced, but some said I was delusional, imagining it,paranoid etc etc...
I'm sure those same people will have another smart arse response...
The report also states, that the system isn't flawed !! Fair dinkum, unbelievable.
Maybe it's time to adopt the Irish system, railers drawn inside, wide runners drawn out ??

Any feedback from your contact with the Ops Team around the tracks that they are visiting? Are they approachable or informative? How many are there?
Boo! Did I scare you or wake you up? Good morning everyone.

What did you think of last week's `715' at The Gardens? One winner... i.e. $500,000 staying race. Can only be ONE winner.
Look at Ballarat greyhounds tonight - 3 Races at $75,000- $20,000- $10,000 -
the other 9 races ALL FEATURE races at $25,000- $7,000- $3,500
PLUS! Breeding bonuses on all races! Now that is a meeting for racing participants!
GRNSW might need to go back to the drawing board and/or take a close look at the Victorian Model

NSW is the breeding capital yet there are no breeding bonuses ? Looks like NSW breeders are being penalised for breeding instead of being rewarded like breeders in other States "what a farce"

NSW breeders haven't been penalised at all folks they have been totally ignored & forgotten about. I'm sick of sounding like a broken record on this subject but NSWGRA should be taking notice of Vic & Qld schemes to help the breeding industry. Its not very hard to come up with good financial incentives that benefit breeders but will they wake up ? They better cos the breeding side of the industry in NSW is just a pale shadow of what it was 10 years ago with greyhound being bred numbers down 15000 compared to the same period 10 years ago I read. No wonder they are struggling for full fields etc etc its the lack of product.

Steve, It's not just NSW, it's a national problem. Note that Vic has just cut back weekly meetings by one - which reflects the overall shortage of dogs wanting to race.
Another impact is the number of races where betting options are sharply reduced due to fields of
