Because they're are so many son's of BL around and his last few runs after coming back from injury were sub-par for him....plus he's only in the last 12 months been much better advertised (new studmaster) and has a couple of Group 1 winners from those limited pups.....I wouldn't go off the numbers this site has for sire....
Breeders generally only remember the dogs last few runs... we r a fickle lot.....
The thing is that breeders have many sources of info on any potential sire...it isn't a knee-jerk reaction to go to any sire in general....
cheers

i think hes way over priced and wont get many bitches.in the same time i dont think people should be putting him down the austraillians are the only ones who know him and although he only has 70 odd offpring they only have good to say about him.its his stud keepers downfall that they have got a potientally good sire and are giving him no chance at all becouse of his stud fee.

To be fair to the dog, he has been competing against Where's Pedro from the same sire and then Bomb here who are the main commercial sires in the country. The hype on El Galo has also got a huge chunk of broods. With what he has had, he is punching above his weight.
All credit to who is running the show now, the mating numbers are still low but the last couple years have seen an increase. Breeders are also spoiled with so many choices these days, most months on grv it is over 30 diff. sires being used month after month. Many have turned to the Out cross option or part out cross. The one good thing about this boy there should be alot of vials around to last for a few years yet

shane how would you rate superman as apose to big daddy cool collision crash head bound his a more expensive sire wat would sell best a head bound pup or a superman pup me thinks headbound...skywalker ace is 600 at stud and to be honest looks a far superior sire you also mentioned if the above sires were so good why arent breeders flocking to them....well answer me this if super man is so good why arent breeders flocking to him a 03 sire next year will turn 10 and only 72 pups that says enough for me...

The same old cry-baby routine...
How is this dog a left over Miceal???? he's standing in Australia, so u have no idea at all...
Breeders are informed, they're not idiots...theres 100's of choices of sires, from all the lines in the world and if they wish to use this dog, good on them...the same as using any other sire.....they're taken the risk....talk about sour milk
And if those dogs mentioned were a good choice, then "the breeders" would be flocking to them, OR is it their mismanagement??? Plenty of sire/s in Australia have been left down by same system...
cheers

If our Australian friends dont rate SUPERMAN this could actually be almost a guarantee of success in Ireland :)
The only "rated" sire that made it in Europe from down under would have to be the great BRETT LEE himself.
On the other hand FRIGHTFUL FLASH, TOP HONCHO, ROANOKEE, SMOOTH RUMBLE etc. etc................
Can see nothing wrong with SUPERMAN as a sire. As for the price, the market will reflect if connections got that one right.

I was talking to Paul Bushel only last week guys, but I do not think the dogs price is anything like 1550euro. There is also a thread on the dog and the Aussies seem to rate this guy and did say in the thread that he would be well suited by Irish broods.
That's correct Jim, Paul Gallagher has purchased the straws in Ireland & will be selling for around 800 euro! Not sure of implant cost at Dr Brian Jones
Superman has produced 2 individual group 1 winners from first 12 litters whelped! He was a dual group 1( Perth Cup & Hobart 1000) winner, plus also won g2 Queensland Derby and a city track record holder! From very limited matings he is going great guns! refer CLICK HERECLICK HERE

Brian if you rate Skywalker Ace a far superior sire why would you be willing to pay 200 euro more for an unproven import?

never said he was unproven but he is to irish blood and as i said in early post i tought enough of him to be interested in buying superman a few years back my issue was not at all with the dog as i believe his a fantasticly bred dog it was with the price and to be honest and true it is far to steep in the current climate now to answer your question i breed to sires i think will suit my bitches i have bitches that will not suit skywalker ace and i have bitches that will...and vice versa with superman....i hope that im not been taken up wrong as i would not ever knock a dog that has only 72 pups on the ground and for wat he has produced he looks a good bet but again not at 1550 infact in our current climate i dont think any sire is worth 1550...now their are few exceptions the likes of brett lee and co but in general we are paying far to much for sires...

Brian you don't think this is just a marketing ploy to drum up sales of vial's to be shipped over, love to know what broods have been mated or how many vials were sold in first batch.
