Moving into Vic in a couple of weeks and with the lower numbers starting to show itself now I've been thinking of adding a whelping area and breeding our bitch. I dont want to be 'testing' any new sires and will only consider a really good stud dog.

My thoughts so far are Barcia Bale, Fernando Bale, Fabregas and Banjo Boy. However I have a concern that some of these might be too close? Also, are Fernando's pups going so well right now because all of his first progeny are from really good bitches?

Interested in anyone's opinion.
Bitch was really quick early but lacked strength, won from 320m-525m, shes a 1 person kinda dog and doesnt like strangers but really keen and really competitive. Always trialled better with dogs than solo and she races 24.5kg - 25kg.
Originally I didnt think she was the right temperament for breeding but I just want to train and race dogs and if this can be my contribution to helping keep the game afloat then so be it.

Hi John ,
From my personal experience if I were you I'd go to Banjo Boy with your bitch as she goes beautifully with him & as I've got a litter of Banjo Boy pups I couldn't be more happier with them , they are super keen & run like crazy in their yard & paddock & by far the best litter I've bred so far & their conformation is second to none.

Go with Barcia Bale or Fabregas. My choice would be Fabregas.
But in my opinion the bitch is as important as the stud dog,and the first three months of the pups.Good Luck

Proven/Expensive sires pups are more regularly used by people that overall fed whelp and rear better therfore always better results. So my choice for you probably doesnt fit your criteria. But for you own thoughts a very good nic is Token Prince x Just The Best. Well my opinion is moreso Malawis Prince as you will see JTBs offspring the ones without TP nearly all have MP somewhere. So if it was me i would look closely at Saturating the cross via Dont Knocka Him. CLICK HERE

I am not sure but i dont know of any straws in Aus of him. I was a massive David Bale fan but i reckon PAW may have a couple for personal use but doubt there is anymore around. But thats a guess i have no knowledge of it.

Hi John,

At a very quick glance I see El Grand Senor has had success with your girls line(Marbo's Magic, All a Blaze), and he can be hard to replicate through different individuals in high percentages close up the last time I looked, so at face value you may wish to consider an outcross such as Kinloch Brae CLICK HERE for her.

The good thing about your bitch is that she carries Temlee through New Tears in the x path that gives up cornerstone brood Elsie Moss through her son Mister Moss. Kinloch Brae in turn carries Mister Moss' litter brother Max Moss also in the x path that gives up cornerstone brood Esie Moss. So even when you outcross it becomes important to linebreed.

Of your choices:
Banjo Boy nicks well with El Grand Senor thru Centrefire in his sireline at a very high 94%.

Barcia nicks well with El Grand Senor thru Fitzroy Lass in his sireline at a high 88% but you do have to rely on some questionable heritage back into Fitzroy Lass' pedigree CLICK HERE that you need to rely on.

Fabregas nicks well with El Grand Senor thru Rinaldi Lass attached to his sireline at a high 88%, however you do have that inbreeding with Bombastic to consider CLICK HERE

Remember this is only from the El Grand Senor perspective which has been previously successful with her line. I think your girl has really nice bloodlines, so good luck with her.

Black Magic Opal on paper looks fantastic to me however I dont know if hes the sire Im really after for her. I feel he had to lead to win and my bitch was the same, that may mean nothing but it's just how I feel.
As for the others you mention they are great dogs but I just wont take any risks with unproven dogs. I've just had a bit of a bad experience and now I'm just trying to cover myself.
I appreciate everyone taking the time to have a look and give me their opinion. I love going through pedigrees and finding certain nicks and what not and I just love talking about them and sharing opinions.
